Fiber Art House
Monday 9-4pm
Even if this house falls on you, it won’t hurt! Design and build a three-dimensional house, using mixed media, surface design, collage and altered art techniques. Starting with a base of sturdy interfacing, your house can create a literal interpretation of "home" and your memories of it. Or, you could take a more allegorical approach and use the inside/outside aspect of the construction as a chance to explore: a vision of what a home can be; an interpretation of self; a memory, fantasy, dream or imaginary home; hidden/revealed thoughts using symbolism and personal imagery; a specific room like a studio, kitchen, garden room or library; a journal or story house; a tribute to an artist or writer; a chronology of family; or a house as a character in a story. Techniques such as threadwork, painting, embellishing, collage and the use of found objects will be covered. A great workshop for the advanced beginner.
