Our 2013 Philanthropic efforts - The Art Is...You family have always made a point of recognizing and supporting charities and groups who touch our hearts. Every year we hold events with all proceeds being donated to our charity of choice. As well as giving in cash, we give in kind and have used our creative talents to bring joy to others.
In 2012 we raised almost $11,000.00 with our philanthropic work. We raised relief funds for Hurricane Sandy Victims. We ran auctions and raffles which raised much needed dollars for The Fabulous Women, Petaluma's Women's Cancer Awarenss Group, Sarah's House in Maine, and BCI Orphanage in Cambodia. Plus our generous attendees continued to support our scholarship program - a simple program that assists people in attending one of our events. FANTASTIC!
The Fabulous Petaluma Women was started in 2006 with the intention to gather fun women together and help causes that touched their hearts. What started off with just a few girlfriends has grown into a dynamic female force that has made a positive impact on their community. In 2012, Art Is...Petaluma will encourage donations at the door of their Art Trunk and will host a fabulous art raffle with all proceeds going directly to The Fabulous Petaluma Women. Read more...
Sarah's House will be a welcoming, friendly, comfortable and cosy home away from home built on the grounds of the current Cancer Treatment Center in Brewer, Maine. A home where families and patients undergoing treatment, can come to for healing, connecting, love and support. Initial plans reflect a home consisting of private one and two bedroom apartments with large open communal lounges, dining rooms, activity rooms and even a wonderful Wellness Center. Sarah's house is the passion of Stan Petersen who is a part of our wonderful Navel Jelly Studios Family. Many of us had the honor of hearing first hand about the plans for Sarah's House, last summer at Art in the Rough and we all agreed this was something too special, not to support. We hope you do too. In 2011 we introduced our Living In Generosity statement and logo
In 2011 we supported the relief efforts in Japan. In a small way we wanted to acknowledge the horrific tragedy that occured on March 11, 2011. We offered a spot in our retreat to anyone who donated directly to World Vision or other reputable charities.
In the Fall of 2011 the Art is...You family and friends raised $2500 for Sarah's House, $1,000 for the Fabulous Women of Petaluma, supported one of our faculty through a silent auction and commenced our Albie Smith Scholarship Fund.
In 2010 we supported the Little Baby Face Foundation.
The Little Baby Face Foundation (LBFF) transforms the lives of children born with facial deformities through corrective surgery. World-class surgeons and medical providers at the finest facilities in NYC volunteer their time to provide the best corrective surgery and medical care to children and their families who are in financial need worldwide.
2009 we created dolls of hope for local women's shelters
and we raised money for a new girls only facility at The Children's Home.
2008 we created dolls of love for The Children's Home
The Children's Home has been caring for kids and families in need since 1900. Today, the Home is a state-of-the-art residential treatment center, special education school, and family treatment center.
2007 we created Bra purses for The Breast Form Fund
The Breast Form Fund (BFF) was founded in 1993. There was a great need to offer financial assistance for breast prostheses and post mastectomy bras for women who had either no insurance, or were under-insured. The BFF offers assistance to women of all ages and cultural backgrounds in Massachusetts.
